Language Support

Elder abuse support in your language

Elder abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of nationality, culture or language. Until recently, elder abuse was a hidden problem in Australian communities. Stigma and shame often kept it secret. But public campaigns and changes in laws are now sending a clear message that elder abuse is not—and cannot be —tolerated in Australia.

If you are experiencing elder abuse, help and support is available in your language.

Be reassured

Taking steps to stop elder abuse can feel overwhelming. But remember:

  • you have rights
  • you are not alone
  • you have the law on your side, especially if the abusive act is classified as a crime
  • you deserve support
  • you have choices.
